Backup & restore Export or import saved review sessions, settings, rules, templates, and mappings. For moving work between PCs or disaster recovery.

VScanMagic stores review sessions and setup files locally. Use this page to move them to another machine or keep an offline copy.

Config directory

/home/vscanmagic/.config/vscanmagic

Sessions live in sessions/reviews.db. Settings, rules, templates, and mappings are JSON files in this folder.

Export backup

Downloads a ZIP you can store or import on another PC running VScanMagic.

Review sessions - saved quarterly reviews (sessions/reviews.db) and bulk job history

Recent paths & patch history - report folder history and patch activity log

API credentials - ConnectSecure, ConnectWise Manage, and Liongard secrets (store the ZIP securely)

Always included: user settings, templates (JSON + templates/ folder), remediation rules, RMIT+ settings, per-client export Top N, covered software, company folder map, ConnectWise/Liongard maps, and email DNS domain lists.

Download backup ZIP

Saves a .zip (not JSON). If the browser shows a failed export.json, reload this page after a deploy - the download endpoint must be reachable on this host.

Import backup

Restores files from a VScanMagic backup ZIP. A snapshot of your current config is saved under backups/ in the config folder before import.

After import

Use Restart in the sidebar (or reload this page) so SQLite sessions and cached settings reload.
Open Review sessions to confirm imported reviews appear.
Check Settings and Rules if you moved setup between machines.
